2021 Reflection & 2022 Goals: Great Things Ahead
Hi friends, and happy launch day! It's been a long time coming and I am beyond thrilled to share all the pretty things with you today.
Back in 2019, I was working in the professional coaching and career development industry. While it was perfect at the time, a chance opportunity to design my parent's small business website threw me into the design industry head-first. Many leads came in for brand and website projects and as a military wife, this opportunity allowed me to pursue a growing business while supporting my husband. I feel beyond thankful to be able to pursue my dreams while supporting our family.
When it comes to designing, I am inspired by the fashion and beauty industry most. My previous experience in the retail space sparked my interest in the industry and has since helped me grow into a better designer. Components such as communication, messaging, creativity, and consumerism have taught me to design with the consumer in mind. Through the initial strategy phase of working out the brand messaging and looking for underlying messages to incorporate into project work, I have the opportunity to create something both valuable and unique for my client and their customers.
For me, 2021 has been an amazing year of accomplishing financial goals and connecting with incredible women on inspiring projects. I have big expectations for myself and Above Design Studio in 2022!
To share more about me, I’m currently working in my home office in New Bern, NC, but within the year will be living back in Texas with hopes of renting a studio office in a beautiful downtown area. My husband is transitioning out of the Marine Corps so it’s time for us to make the move.
When I’m not designing, I enjoy being outside and walking my two sweet dogs or leisurely painting with acrylics and watercolor. And although I wouldn’t consider myself a super sporty person, I do love to work out every now and then. In 2022, I plan on getting back into running/jogging and working out more often. At the moment, I’m pretty consumed by my work and being a wife and dog mom. However, I’m hoping that with the growth of my brand, I’ll be able to work on more selected client projects and make more time for myself in 2022.
